Man hurt in illegal dirt bike crash

A 25-year-old dirt bike rider is in the hospital after he collided with a minivan in Laurel Saturday night.

Howard County police said the dirt bike rider was unlicensed and not wearing a helmet when the crash happened around 9 p.m. Saturday.

The dirt bike was travelling east on Scaggsville Road through an intersection when it was hit by a Honda Odyssey turning left onto Harding Road.

The rider, identified as Nicholas Walker, of Jessup was taken to Shock Trauma where he is listed in stable condition.

No one in the minivan was hurt.

Police said the dirt bike was not equipped to be on the road and did not have a headlight.

No charges have been filed.

Police are investigating.
