ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — An Ellicott City man plead guilty to killing his friend during the summer.
The Howard County State's Attorney said 21-year-old Rane Dellinger shot and killed 20-year-old Jacob Mauer on June 1.
According to Howard County Police Department, Dellinger, Mauer and a third person were sitting in a car parked behind a building in the 4200 block of Montgomery Road in Ellicott City.
While Dellinger and the third unknown person were using drugs, they were also playing with a gun. Officials said, Dellinger fired the gun and struck Mauer.
After shooting his friend, Dellinger left the scene and Mauer died from his injuries.

Dellinger fled the state for North Carolina and was brought back to Howard County.
Dellinger pleaded to second-degree murder and use of a firearm in a crime of violence.
