HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — A Howard County businesswoman was worried COVID-19 would hurt her small business.

She was surprised to learn more people wanted her unique yard cards as a way to stay connected during social distancing.

"Of course I was nervous," said Stephanie Hill. "We received a lot of calls from frantic people saying events had been canceled. They wanted our yard cards and we were happy to help out."

Hill, who has been in business 17 years, found she had a unique product that could still help people celebrate.

"Our signs are large and really make a statement," she said. "We deliver a personalized message and place it on the front lawn of a loved one or community organization."

The personalized messages are in addition to the baby arrival announcements Hill is known for.

"The messages are a great way to let people know you're thinking of them no matter the occasion," she said.
