ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — Marylanders looking to get in some last minute shopping, or generally out to enjoy the festive atmosphere of Old Ellicott City, can get a $10 boost to their spending this weekend thanks to a new economic incentive program.

The OEC Holiday Bucks program provides consumers with a $10 spending voucher redeemable at participating restaurants, shops, and service providers located within the Old Ellicott City history district, Howard County Tourism, the Ellicott City Partnership, and County Executive Calvin Ball announced Tuesday. The 1,500 available vouchers will be distributed from the Howard County Welcome Center, 8267 Main Street, on a first-come, first-serve basis from 11:00 a.m. on Dec. 21 until 5 p.m. on Dec. 24. Each family can obtain up to two vouchers.

“Old Ellicott City is such a vibrant part of Howard County, and so many people want to see the businesses on Main Street thrive,” County Executive Ball said in a statement. “This voucher program provides a little extra incentive to show support for Ellicott City this holiday season by shopping and dining in the historic district.”

Participating businesses will post a flier in their windows indicating that they accept the vouchers.
