Police say a pedestrian was hit and killed on U.S. Route 1 in Laurel.
Howard County police say 22-year-old Marcus Antonio Fletcher was hit shortly before dawn Wednesday by a Toyota Camry. He was taken to Laurel Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the driver and only occupant of the Camry, identified as 47-year-old Frank Thomas Lee of Laurel, wasn't injured and no other vehicles were involved.
Police believe Fletcher wasn't in a crosswalk at the time of the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
Route 1, or Washington Boulevard, was closed between Whiskey Bottom and Maier roads for more than three hours.
