Howard County police are investigating a three-vehicle collision involving an officer on westbound Route 100 in Ellicott City Friday.
At approximately 11 a.m., police said an officer was conducting a traffic stop on a Volkswagon Jetta on the right shoulder just prior to Snowden River Parkway when a Cadillac Escalade left the roadway for an unknown reason and hit the rear of his patrol car, pushing it into the Volkswagon.
The patrol car’s emergency lights were on at the time of the collision, according to police.
The officer was inside of the patrol car at the time of the collision. He was taken to Howard County General Hospital for a check-up. Police said his injuries are non-life threatening.
A 31-year-old male from Baltimore, the driver of the Cadillac Escalade, was taken to Shock Trauma Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagon, a 31-year-old male from Linthicum Heights, who was also inside of his car at the time of the crash, wasn’t injured.
The right hand lanes of Route 100 westbound were closed as police investigated the collision.
