A 21-year-old died and two others are injured after multiple cars crashed Thursday morning.
State police are investigating the crash that happened on MD Route 6 near Cooksey Road in La Plata.
A preliminary investigation shows that Daniel Juwan Butler, 22, was driving when he failed to stop, hitting a car driven by Taylor Anne Halbleib. As a result of getting hit, Halbleib drove into Brittany Camille Coggins.
Butler and his passenger, Logan Alexander Shifflett, were taken to hospitals in the area for treatment. Halbleib was transported to a hospital but died from her injuries. Coggins was not injured in the crash.
Investigators think that speed and alcohol were a contributing factor in this accident.
