WASHINGTON, D.C. (WMAR) — Beginning Tuesday, Ovi O's will hit the shelves of all Giant Food locations throughout D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

If you don't know what Ovi O's are, it's the brand new limited edition breakfast cereal of National Hockey League star and the Washington Capitals own Alex Ovechkin.

Promotions for the new cereal kicked off October 10, with Ovechkin surprising students at Arlington Traditional School in Virginia and patients at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in D.C.

Ovechkin capped that day off with an actual visit to a Giant supermarket in Cathedral Heights, where the Capital Captain helped stock shelves with his cereal and even acted as a cashier for unsuspecting customers.

Giant says a portion of the proceeds from Ovi O's will benefit the Maryland-based Children's Cancer Foundation, Inc., a non-profit that is committed to funding locally based researchers, programs, and facilities with the goal of assuring every child is guaranteed a healthy future.
