We are less than two months away from election day and a new poll is shedding some light on the race for governor.

According to the latest Goucher Poll released early Wednesday morning, if the general election were held today, Marylanders would be more likely to vote for Governor Larry Hogan over the Democratic candidate Ben Jealous.

More than 800 Marylanders were surveyed in the poll and Governor Hogan already has a big lead over Jealous. 54 percent of Marylanders say they would vote for Hogan, 32 percent say they would vote for Jealous, and nine percent say they are still undecided.

Voters were also asked about a number of big issues here in Maryland.

66 percent of voters say they have more confidence in Hogan to handle economic development and job creation over the 23 percent who say they have more confidence in Jealous. When it comes to education and healthcare, 51 percent of voters also had more confidence in Hogan.

Though we have less than two months until election day, the poll says 73 percent of those who already know who they are going to vote for are set on their candidate.
