A tractor-trailer driver is dead and four others were injured after a multi-vehicle crash on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Wednesday morning.
When officers arrived at the scene they found multiple vehicles impacted, some of which were on fire.
Investigators were able to determine that before the accident a bridge maintenance crew were on the bridge when a tractor-trailer lost control and struck the crash attenuator truck, pushing it into a boom truck. The tractor-trailer and boom truck immediately caught fire.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was found deceased in the cab of the truck tractor.
Officials have yet to identify the man. They say his body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy and positive identification.
The people injured were later transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for their injuries.
