HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a serious assault against a Hagerstown prison inmate.
Authorities said the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services called the Maryland State Police after an inmate was found on the floor during a work detail on a housing tier Wednesday night at the Maryland Correctional Training Center.
The inmate was transported to a nearby hospital. State police will not identified the inmate until his family can be notified.
Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators are conducting the investigation with assistance from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigations Unit.
