A Maryland State Trooper was injured Saturday morning in a three-car crash.
Maryland State Police reported that a trooper from the Rockville Barrack was making a traffic stop on the northbound lane of Interstate 270 in Gaithersburg at about 6:45 a.m., when a female driving a tan Lexus SUV struck the trooper's patrol vehicle in the rear and driver's side.
The police vehicle subsequently struck the black Acura in the rear, the vehicle the trooper pulled over.
The trooper was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore due to the injuries sustained.
The female driving the Lexus sustained injuries and was taken to Suburban Hospital. It is believed that the female may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The black Acura that was pulled over, was occupied by an adult male driver, an adult female passenger, and two young children. There were no injuries reported but they were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
