MARYLAND — The Maryland Department of Agriculture said it has gotten "many calls today" about the Asian Giant Hornet.
The hornets, a potentially deadly invasive species, were first seen in Washington State late in 2019.
State officials said in part in a tweet: "We have received many calls today about the Asian giant hornet, referred to in media coverage as the 'Murder Hornet.'"
Officials said they will continue to monitor, though it is highly unlikely that the hornet is present in Maryland.
