ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The legislature is out of session, but there certainly is a lot going on in the State House.

Earlier this month there was a special session to elect a Speaker of the House, to replace Mike Busch who died in April.

On Wednesday, Shaneka Henson was sworn in to replace Mike Busch as Delegate for Anne Arundel County. Henson has a law degree from University of Baltimore and previously served on the city council of Annapolis

"He was in this position for 32 years, that's a life time of service to the public. So for me to follow in those footsteps, to be the first African-American women to represent this district in the Maryland House of Delegates, is an incredible honor," said Shaneka Henson.

Delegate Henson was appointed by Governor Hogan after the death of Speaker Mike Busch.
