Teal is the Orange: Raising food allergy awareness this Halloween

This Halloween, Patient First wants you to turn your orange pumpkin teal to raise food allergy awareness.

Thousands of children every year set out on October 31st in their costumes ready to trick or treat. Unfortunately for many children with food allergies, things can get tricky.

According to Patient First, the Teal Pumpkin Project “is designed to raise awareness for children with food allergies and aims to create a way for children who have allergies to enjoy the Holiday.”

Teal is not only a bright and easily spotted color, it’s also the designated color of food allergy awareness.

Those interested in supporting can place a teal colored pumpkin or a Teal Pumpkin Project sign in their yard, indicating that non-food treats are available such as glow sticks, stickers or small toys.

Organizers said participating in the project doesn’t mean that you can’t hand out candy, just be sure to separate the candy from non-food treats.

For more information on how to support, visit the Teal Pumpkin Project’s website for a printable Teal Pumpkin Project sign.
