Two are dead in separate Sunday morning crashes in P.G. County

Maryland State Police are investigating multiple early Sunday morning car crashes that killed two people in Prince George's County. 

4:00 a.m.

Troopers from the College Park Barrack responded to the scene of a reported crash at eastbound Route 50 in the area of Maryland Route 410. When the officers arrived, they discovered two separate accidents had occurred. The first crash involving a silver Pontiac Grand AM lost control and struck the jersey wall. 

Investigators say, a woman stopped to help the victim. Moments later she was hit by a 37-year-old man driving an Infiniti G37. Prince George's County Fire and EMS pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Officers say the driver of the Infiniti stayed on the scene. He was arrested and taken to the College Park Barrack for processing on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

1:45 a.m.

A trooper from the Forestville Barrack arrived to the scene of a crash in the area of southbound Maryland Route 202 at Chelsea Lane in Upper Marlboro.

There the officer saw a head-on collision between a Mercedes and a Dodge Ram pick-up truck. The man driving the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was taken to the University of Maryland Prince George's County Hospital Center.

The Maryland State Police CRASH Team is leading the investigation for both Crashes.
