A seven-year-old female student is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while getting off a school bus on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Charles County Volunteer Fire and EMS the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. in the 5700 block of Oliver Shop Road in Bryantown.
The student reportedly sustained multiple injuries and was transported to Children's National Hospital by helicopter.
Charles County Public Schools said buses carrying T.C. Martin Elementary School students would be delayed as result.

The bus involved, #140 will be transferring student passengers to Bus 13 at which time they will be transported to their normal bus stops.
Police will let us know when the students on Bus 140 will be released. We have a second bus ready to transport Bus 140 students home as soon as they are released. Mr. Opiekun is with our students on Bus 140. 2/2

Officials say the driver remained on scene. A 53-year-old was taken to a hospital with an anxiety panic attack.
