Many legislators along with members of the community attended the vigil to pay their respects to a man who was known for being a servant of his community.

Maryland Republican Party Chairman released a statement on his passing:

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Senator Wayne Norman. Senator Norman was a remarkable public servant. He served as one of our Republican Central Committee members in Harford County from 1998-2007 and was a life member of the Harford County Republican Club. He also served as a member of many community organizations. He has represented Harford and Cecil counties in the Maryland General Assembly for the past 10 years.

Anyone who has met Wayne will tell you he'd light up a room with smiles when he said "Hey Buddy." Aside from a great leader, our state has lost a great person. We send our condolences to his wife, Linda, their two children, and his granddaughter."
