RANDALLSTOWN, Md. — On Friday in Randallstown, there was a stand down program to honor female veterans.
This was the fifth year the Baltimore County Delta Foundation paid tribute to the women who served and those who continue to serve today.
They commemorated the service of World War II veterans from the 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion. The first unit of African American women, Private First Class Deloris Ruddock of Mt. Rainier, Maryland is one of seven members of the unit who's still alive.
There's an effort underway to get a congressional medal of honor for the women.
