Patients at VA Medical Center receive special visit from former Ravens player

BALTIMORE — On Thursday, patients at the VA Medical Center on Greene Street got a special visit.

As a show of appreciation for the men and women who have served our country, former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith, cheerleaders, the mascot Poe and Leidos representatives.

"My father was in the military so I understand the importance of the VA to him. So to be here hanging with them knowing the challenges that they still face even through they may not be in service, what they did it just can't be done in vain. It's important for us to continue to take are of them, they're real-life heroes."

The Ravens Salute to Service game is set for this Sunday, during which military veterans and active duty service members will be honored.
