BALTIMORE — A local school celebrated its graduates their own way.

Cardinal Shehan School, in Northeast Baltimore honored more than 40 eighth grade graduates with a parade through the school's neighborhood.

The school normally holds a farewell parade inside, but because of COVID-19 that isn’t possible. So, they took it outside.

The students were able to drop off their books and pick up any belongings they left behind. They also picked up their cap, gowns, honor chords and masks for graduation.

"We're just excited because we know how important these days and times are and we know we're sending out scholars charged with peace of god and ready to take on the world."

Students and parents decorated their cars for the celebration there was also music and a pizza party in the parking lot.

Cardinal Shehan school will hold its graduation next Wednesday.
