BALTIMORE — A city do-gooder is being recognized for his amazing work by a local icon.

Mike Rowe, known for his work on 'Dirty Jobs' and the current host of Facebook's 'Returning The Favor' surprised Thomas Dawod in a ceremony, giving Thomas $30,000 for his nonprofit.

He's the founder of 'My Father's Plan,' a group that teaches inner city kids about how they can change the world around them through community activism.

Thomas said this money means a lot to his organization.

“$30,000 will help us get a building, right? And we've been needing a building, we've been needing a building for a couple of years now. So that's our building right there.”

Thomas said this group is important to him because they're trying to change a generation of kids for the better.
