HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — This is not a normal school year and while learning was virtual, teachers at Havre De Grace Elementary School did get a chance to see many of their students in person.

They decorated their cars and drove all over Havre De Grace beeping and waving as the students cheered and waved.

“It is our hope that as they see our staff members drive by their homes and wave while practicing proper socially distancing protocols that they'll realize that they are truly missed, and they are loved," said Ronald Wooden, principal at Havre De Grace Elementary School.

The theme for the first day of school was opening day.

The teachers all wore baseball shirts and hats.
