BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Fire hydrants covered with plastic bags and caution tape raised some concern along York Road.

A viewer reached out to WMAR-2 News wondering if they pose a safety threat during a fire emergency. We found a number of fire hydrants matching the description in the 9900 block and learned they're new fire hydrants that haven't been connected as of yet!

This is all part of the water main replacement project between Padonia Road and Wight Avenue.

Baltimore County said that project is 85 percent complete.
