Government officials in Malta say five people killed in a plane crash just after takeoff from Malta International Airport Monday morning were French officials tracing Mediterranean trafficking routes from Libya.
Witnesses say the light plane slammed into the ground and burst into flames.
The plane was on its way to Misrata, Libya.
