ANNAPOLIS, Md. — In the middle of a world pandemic and with small businesses closing down left and right, Amy Tech, celebrated the opening of her new store, Dream Baby Decor!
"Even during COVID people are having babies and they're stuck at home," Tech said.
She has a point, babies will always be in supply and new ones are coming along all the time.
"So, there is a lot of options out there and we wanted to do something that you can't find in any other store," she explained.
Dream Baby Decor is a specialty shop for newborns and their parents. They have everything from books, to booties to bibs and everything in between for the little ones. With a husband and three young boys, Amy has here hands full at home and at work.
One would assume starting a business during a world pandemic is not a good idea, but actually Amy says this is the right time to do this.
"Now is the time. People want to shop local and they want to support their local economy. So we felt like it was a perfect time to open a store and provide something for the local Annapolis community and the surrounding areas," she said.
Yumi Hogan came to show her support for a local, women owned business.
"I have 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. I'm very excited, especially in these challenging times. We have to help," she said.
Tech is familiar with the area, she grew up in Odenton and has worked in the Annapolis Mall, Arundel Mills Mall and the Mall of Columbia. Ten years ago, Amy had an online store, that and her previous retail work has put her in good position to take care of new family's and their bundles of joy.
"You know, get them started on the right foot in life. Each little one is our future for what we have to look forward to."
