BALTIMORE — Several people were injured after mace was released during Baltimore's Pride festival Saturday night, according to police.

Authorities say it happened around 8:37p.m. in front of the festival's main stage. Police say a fight broke out and the mace was sprayed.

A spokesperson for Baltimore Police confirm police did not spray the mace.

Three people were in contact with the mace and have since been released from nearby hospitals.

Police say while that was happening, fireworks were also set off at the location, causing attendees to flee the area and resulting in several people being injured.

The event closed shortly after. The fire department tended to several injuries caused by the mass exodus.

“This ongoing investigation is a testament to our commitment to ensuring the safety of all attendees.”

The police say they do not have any information to support the claim that the incident was a targeted attack.
