ARBUTUS, Md (WMAR) — An investigation is underway after a middle school student allegedly filmed a social media video with a weapon.

The video reportedly involved an Arbutus Middle School student. WMAR-2 News has not obtained a copy of the video, and it's unclear if the video was filmed on school property and what kind of weapon the student had.

In a letter sent out to student parents, School Principal Michelle P. Feeney said she received information on the incident on January, 7. Feeney said the school was working with the Baltimore County Police Department and the Office of School Safety to investigate the matter.

When reached, a Baltimore County Police spokeswoman was unable to immediately comment.

In the letter, the Principal went on to urge parents and students to say something if they hear or see something suspicious;

It is important for all of us - student and parents alike - to inform school staff or police any time you or your child sees, hears, or reads anything that is suspicious or that may pose a threat to the school or its students. We all have a role to play in ensuring that our school remains a safe and secure learning environment for our children.
