COLUMBIA, Md. — Howard County on Wednesday awarded nearly $750,000 in Federal CARES Act grants to local artists and live entertainment venues.
Among the recipients, Merriweather Post Pavilion will receive $530,000, Toby’s Dinner Theatre will get $75,000, and the Drama Learning Center will be awarded $36,000.
“While COVID-19 has disrupted so many facets of our daily lives – it has hit our arts and creative community especially hard. A season of empty seats, hollow halls, and quiet studios has caused lasting economic damage," said County Executive Calvin Ball.
Another $100,000 will be divided in half between the Artist Relief Fund and individual artists, who could receive up to $1,000 each.
