ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland added 10,200 jobs in October, despite an increase to the unemployment rate which now sits at nearly 8 percent.
Over the last six months though -- the state has gained 220,900 jobs in the private sector.
The Leisure and Hospitality sector experienced the most growth last month with 9,100 jobs from the Accommodation and Food Services (8,600) and Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation (500) sub-sectors. The Education and Health Services sector increased by 4,100 jobs.
Meanwhile, September’s preliminary jobs estimate was revised upwards by 1,200 jobs, from a gain of 18,200 jobs to 19,400.
