ANNAPOLIS, Md. — December 2020 saw Maryland lose 2,100 jobs, but the overall unemployment rate fell to its lowest point since the beginning of the pandemic at 6.3 percent.
The number was assisted by a 1,500 jobs increase in the private sector, which offset a 3,600 job decrease in the public sector.
Thus far Maryland has regained 251,700 jobs, which equates to about 65 percent of the jobs lost during the pandemic.
Also, November’s preliminary jobs estimate was revised upwards by 8,100 jobs, from 24,100 to 32,200 jobs.
