ANNAPOLIS, Md. — September saw Maryland's unemployment rate increase to 7.2 percent in September, while adding 18,200 jobs.
Although payrolls in the private sector rose by 32,400 jobs, public sector payrolls decreased by 14,200.
The Leisure and Hospitality sector experienced the most growth with an increase of 15,700 jobs -- 13, 500 of which came from Accommodation and Food Services.
Over the last five months, Maryland has gained nearly 195,000 jobs.
