Tucked away in Harford County is a garden beyond belief.
Ladew Gardens is a family-friendly social distancing experience. It's a nonprofit public garden that has 29 different gardens and activities, including a Butterfly House.
Ladew Gardens depends on charitable donations, membership dues, and admissions, so during these tough times, one local business *rose* to the occasion and offered some help.
Since Ladew’s popular cafe had to close, the Classic Catering People, Located in Owings mills, partnered with them to make food for visitors
David Atkinson, an Account Executive for the Classic Catering People, says their partnership has benefited them both, "Ladew has done a super job putting everything together and honestly, there have been so many people who have not been to Ladew. They are coming from as far as Philadelphia, Washington, and other places."
The Classic Catering People has a diverse online menu that visitors must order from the night before. Not only is the food good, it also helps keep Ladew Gardens open.
When you buy a meal, a portion of the proceeds goes to Ladew Gardens.
“We are getting a huge amount of people pre-ordering and it only started about a week and a half ago, it’s been amazing,” explained Atkinson.
Barbra Barnoff, the Director of Visitor Services at Ladew Gardens, says business is blooming. She explained attendance has gone up compared to last July.
“Seeing the gratitude and excitement and joy has been fulfilling,” said Barnoff.
Barnoff is not the only one excited about the visitors, "On a personal level, it is great to see people and their happiness. You kind of forget what is going on in the world... well, all but our masks... and I am just energized every day I come here," exclaimed Atkinson.
