ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Unemployment insurance claims in Maryland are down for a fourth straight week, and seven out of the last eight weeks.
On Thursday the Maryland Department of Labor said 43,095 citizens filed for unemployment last week, down from 48,963 the week before.
The two weeks prior 51,108 and 65,805 jobless claims were reported, which cut in half the 109,263 claims filed five weeks ago.
Those numbers reflected repairs made to the new online BEACON System, which had been preventing a large amount of citizens from filing.
Before May 2, the state had another three week drop in claims of 37,225 , 47,545 , and 61,770 respectively.
