BALTIMORE — On Wednesday afternoon despite the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Mary's will open its 2020-2021 seminary year in Roland Park.
Opening Mass will be lead by Archbishop William E. Lori at 4 p.m., during which incoming seminarians will sign the “Covenant Book,” an essential tradition that commits to Faith, Hope and Love, according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Around 60 seminarians from 14 dioceses across the country will be in attendance, as will the largest incoming class in over a decade.
Founded in 1791 by the Sulpician fathers, St. Mary's is the nation’s preeminent Roman Catholic seminary, training those seeking ordination into the priesthood.
Social distancing and face coverings will be applied along with special living arrangements and food services.
