There is nothing I enjoy more after a long day than a nice glass of wine. It is one of my most favorite pleasures in life.
This month there are several wine-centric events happening in and around Baltimore. Grab your friends (and a DD) and plan a weekend of tasting and sipping on some delicious wines!
Highlandtown Wine Festival
This is the 16th year for this wine festival, which pays homage to the local winemakers in the neighborhood. For the past couple of years I've had the pleasure of going to the wine tasting the week before the festival to choose the best, Highlandtown-made wine. They started selling tickets to this event this year, so be sure to keep an eye out for it next year. It is such a fun time! The actual big, wine festival is Sunday May 5 on the 3700 block of Claremont Street in Baltimore. Your ticket gets you an antipasta platter and five wine tastings. Weird Wine
This is a new, pop-up event hosted by the Maryland Wineries Association and Baltimore Magazine. They are taking over an unfinished part of Union Collective in Hampden on Sunday May 5 and filling it with wineries that are offering some unique and different blends of wine. Some of the ingredients in these wines include coffee, lavender, and fish peppers. If you are an adventurous person, this is the event for you. Click here to purchase tickets.
Wine in the Woods
This is an annual event that wine lovers make a point to attend. It is the largest wine festival in Maryland, nestled in the woods of Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia. You can sample wines from more than 25 wineries, enjoy gourmet food and listen to live music. This is a two-day event being held on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. So if you plan on going to Preakness on Saturday, you can still squeeze in Wine in the Woods on Sunday. That sounds like a pretty gosh darn good weekend to me. Girl Scout Cookie and Wine Pairing
I think the next best thing to a wine and cheese pairing is a wine and Girl Scout Cookie pairing! Boordy Vineyards is hosting this spectacular pairing event on Saturday May 18 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland.
