BALTIMORE — After 21 interviews with 14 different candidates, the Ravens have chosen a new offensive coordinator.

On Tuesday the team announced the hiring of Todd Monken, who spent the last three seasons as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Georgia.

He replaces Greg Roman who parted ways with the organization in January after four years leading the Ravens offense.

During Monken's tenure the Georgia Bulldogs won back-to-back national championships with an offense that scored the fifth most points in the nation.

The 34-year coaching veteran also comes to Baltimore with eight-years of NFL experience under his belt.

Monken called plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2016-2018, followed by one season with the Cleveland Browns.

While in Tampa, the 2018 Bucs offense led the NFL in passing yards per game (320.3).

Monken's 2019 Cleveland offense included running back Nick Chubb, who finished the year as the league's second leading rusher.

Over his college career Monken had a stint as head coach at Southern Mississippi (2013-15), and held the offensive coordinator positions at Oklahoma State (2011-12), and Eastern Michigan (1998-99).

“We conducted 21 interviews with 14 candidates throughout a thorough process that had wide-ranging organizational involvement,” said Head Coach John Harbaugh. “Todd’s leadership and coaching acumen were evident from the beginning. He has a proven track record for designing and teaching offensive systems that allow players to succeed at the highest level. We’re excited to get to work and begin building an offense that will help us compete for championships.”
