A foundation has been created in memory of the University of Maryland football player who died after being hospitalized in May.

Nineteen-year-old Jordan McNair collapsed while participating in a team workout on May 29, weeks later he died. His death was due to a heat stroke.

The Jordan McNair Foundation was established in June by McNair’s parents. The goal is to see the number of heat-related illnesses occurring in student-athletes reduced.

The foundation has established programs that will help prevent, support, mobilize resources, and provide scholarship funding.
