BALTIMORE — Baltimore's generations old tradition of arabbing made its presence known Wednesday, in the city's west side.

Together University of Maryland Baltimore's Community Engagement Center and Southwest Baltimore’s Arabber Preservation Society delivered 2,000 pounds of frozen chicken to community residents.

Arabbers are a historic staple in Baltimore, known for walking the streets to the sound of ringing bells while selling fruits and vegetables from a colorful horse-drawn cart.

The generous donation is thanks to Holly Poultry and is expected to help about 900 families. Neopol Savory Smokery also stepped in to help store the food before it was delivered.
