BALTIMORE — The COVID-19 pandemic has put a strain on everyone, but especially for medical staff working on the front lines and the patients they serve.

That's why two local kids decided to express their thanks to an area hospital.

Bella Grace and Nicholas Young, ages 9 and 6, recently sent letters of encouragement and hope to staff and patients at GBMC.

"God has chosen you to do his work," Bella Grace wrote to staff in a letter.

"The doctors and nurses are super heroes who have special powers to help you," Nicholas wrote to patients.

In response to their letter, the hospital said "At a time when our world is experiencing such heartache and uncertainty, these letters provide hope to those who need it most. While we, as an organization, cannot thank our healthcare heroes enough, it’s the encouragement from our community that keeps these heroes going. Many of these frontline providers did not choose a career in healthcare for the thanks or recognition; but because they want to make a difference in our world by helping people."
