Bay Bridge lane closures scheduled week of Aug. 4

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Drivers having to cross the Chesapeake may have to navigate lane closures if they take the Bay Bridge (US 50/301) next week.

The Maryland Transportation Authority is planning lane closures from Aug. 5 through Aug. 10, subject to favorable weather and traffic conditions.

The eastbound span will close from midnight Sunday to 5 a.m. the next morning, then again from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, for routine preservation and maintenance work. During the closures, two-way traffic will run on the bridge’s westbound span.

That westbound span will then be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, then again at 11p.m. Thursday night to 5 a.m. Friday, and from 11 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, also for preservation and maintenance work. Two-way traffic will run on the eastbound span during this time.

Monday and Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., one lane of the westbound span may close. The same may occur for one lane of the eastbound span between 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and/or from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

As the closures occur, stay aware of signage at toll booths directing drivers to certain lanes that will lead them to appropriate directed traffic.
