MDTA announced the continuation of lane closures on both the eastbound and westbound spans of the Bay Bridge that will alter traffic patterns for the week of July 21-27.
The eastbound span may be closed Sunday, July 21, from midnight to 5 a.m. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closure.
The westbound span of the bridge, U.S. 50/301, will close from Monday, July 22 to Wednesday, July 24, beginning at 10 p.m. each day and reopening at 5 a.m. the next morning. The same closure will occur Thursday, July 25, from 11 p.m. to 5a.m. the next morning and Saturday, July 27, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the next morning.
Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures. One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.
MDTA says the best times to travel the Bay Bridge on weekends to the Eastern Shore are:
▪ Friday – before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
▪ Saturday – before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
▪ Sunday – before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
The closures are so crew can conduct routine preservation and maintenance work and inspections. The work is weather permitting.
