HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — A truck crashed into a Maryland State Police trooper as he was pursuing a stolen car on I-95 Friday.
Maryland State Police say 32-year-old Alton Bomo Garbla, of Bowie, stole a Nissan Rogue out of Tinicum Township in Pennsylvania.
Trooper Farhan Bachu spotted the vehicle on I-95 north near the Route 155 overpass, and began to pursue it.
Garbla reportedly went onto the right shoulder of Northbound I-95 to pass a truck. Trooper Bachu tried to follow but lost control, when the truck swerved and hit his patrol vehicle.
The police car ended up in a ditch badly damaged. Trooper Bachu was taken to Shock Trauma by helicopter. He's since been released.
Garbla continued to flee through three other states including Delaware and New Jersey, before police in Pennsylvania finally captured him.
He's now facing charges in each state including Maryland.
