MARRIOTTSVILLE, Md. — Howard County has vaccinated 27,273 people. Nearly 23,000 people have already gotten their first shot. More than 4,500 people have gotten their second shot.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball provided a COVID-19 vaccination update Thursday.

Ball says people in Phase 1A and Phase 1B are the priority. For the more than 55,000 people eligible to get a shot, Ball says the county has only received about 15,000 doses since its first 100 doses arrived on December 23.

"We're hopeful for an increased supply soon and we will provide appointments as soon as we're able,” said Ball. “Right now, we need people who want to receive a vaccine to pre-register if you haven't already."

Pre-registration is open for all groups in Phase 1B including adults 75 and older, K-12 educators, staff and childcare providers, adults with developmental disabilities, and adults 65 to 74 in Phase 1C.
