TOWSON, Md. — In an attempt to get more students vaccinated, Baltimore County on Friday announced a series of future clinics that will be held at public schools.
The first two clinics are scheduled for August 9 at New Town High School, and August 10 at Dundalk High School, from 4 to 7pm.
Once the academic year begins, other clinics will be set up inside the Wellness Centers of various elementary, middle and high schools in areas that have lower vaccination rates than the County average.
Vaccinations at those locations won't be limited to just students, anyone 12 and older can get one.
As of Friday, more than 70 percent of Baltimore County residents 12 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. However, only 47 percent of those between 12 and 18-years-old have gotten a shot.
“As students and educators prepare to return to school later this month, their health and safety is our top priority — and increasing vaccination rates among students 12 and older is the best way to keep them safe,” said Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski. “The vaccines are safe and they save lives. They are plentiful and widely available. Not getting vaccinated puts you, your family, and your community at risk."
On July 29, Baltimore County Public Schools announced a universal indoor mask requirement for when students and teachers return.
