PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Governor Larry Hogan visited The Arc Prince George's County to further his COVID vaccination plan on Friday.
The Arc takes care of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Here, they can't do 3,000 shots a day like the mass vaccination sites, but the governor says these community clinics are just as important and maybe even more for those that can't go to a more standard facility.
"It's all a part of this big mosaic of thousands of people trying to do millions of vaccines in a short period of time. It's a huge undertaking. It's the biggest peace time undertaking in our nations history."
In the beginning, the governor had a problem with not enough vaccines, now the governor has a new problem on the horizon, what to do with so many vaccines.
"We are going to get 340,000 vaccines in one week. We are finally getting our second batch of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, more Moderna, more Pfizer, I have commitments from the federal government that that is going to continue all through April and May and enable us to vaccinate over 1 millions of people in the next two months."
To make that happen the governor has been adding more opportunities to get shots into arms.
"We added a couple of hundred new pharmacies and we're going to add a couple of hundred physician offices and will be over 3,000 points of distribution. In a day or two, and two days from now I think we're going to reach 2.5 million vaccines."
