BALTIMORE — Maryland's newest vaccination expansion is bringing small businesses into the fold.
On Friday, Governor Hogan announced 22 independently-owned pharmacies are joining the state vaccination network.
One taking part is Voshell's Pharmacy, off Wilkens Avenue in West Baltimore.
They started giving vaccines Friday morning, inoculating around 15 people.
Their owner said giving local pharmacies vaccines will improve vaccine access.
We have a lot of patients who have been looking for vaccines, especially the elderly who aren't on the internet, don't have a computer, don't have an email address, and they call us every day looking for it,” said pharmacist Jay Dorsch. “And a lot of these people, they don't want to go to a big vaccination center. They're afraid of being around a lot of people.”
The additional pharmacies mean nearly 300 statewide are now administering vaccinations.
