MDOT MTA in partnership with the Maryland Department of Health has announced the implementation of on-site COVID-19 vaccination clinics for essential employees in service critical departments.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our employees have played a critical role in transporting essential workers to jobs and vital services.” said MDOT MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn. “We are excited to take this next step to get our operators and frontline staff vaccinated as quickly as possible.”
As MDOT MTA receives its allocation of doses, eligible employees will be scheduled for their first and second shots. they expect to schedule 500 employees per week for the next several weeks.
To make sure there's no break in service, vaccinations will be administered in a staggered schedule and by appointment only.
“Today’s vaccination event supports our continued efforts to protect the health and safety of our frontline MDOT employees, as well as the Marylanders they serve every day,” said MDOT Secretary Greg Slater. “We appreciate Governor Hogan and Department of Health Acting Secretary Schrader for their leadership throughout the pandemic and their tireless work in ensuring Marylanders receive vaccinations as soon as they become available.”
“We recognize the importance that MDOT MTA employees are in the COVID-19 response and getting essential personnel to their critical destinations, particularly hospital workers and other frontline COVID-19 responders,” said Acting Maryland Department of Health Secretary Dennis Schrader. “While we continue to advocate for more vaccines for all Marylanders, we appreciate the opportunity to partner with MDOT to vaccinate these essential employees as expeditiously as possible.”
