ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman announced Annapolis will have a mass vaccination site at the Navy/Marine Corps stadium. They will have a soft opening on April 15 and 16 to give about 500 shots a day and then open up the site for more shots starting the 17th of April.
"We will have 1000 shots per day and then we get Into April 21 and beyond that we'll have 1500 a day and then the capacity to do a whole lot more than that," Pittman said.
You need to sign up through the state website or if you signed up with the county, it will be moved to the state site. The county fire department will man the site and they will have 125 workers managing the mass vaccination site.
Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman says he has seen variants of the COVID virus in the community. The UK variance is most prevalent.
"The spread is occurring and this is why it's important to continue masking and avoiding gatherings right now because we need to get everybody a chance to get vaccinated," he said.
