COLLEGE PARK, Md. — University of Maryland Athletics is starting a new initiative to encourage faculty and staff to get vaccinated.

Between May 19 and June 30, any member receiving a COVID-19 shot will be offered two free tickets for a select home football game this fall.

To get the tickets, UMD employees must attest to being vaccinated on the daily symptom monitoring survey and authorize the university to verify results via the state’s vaccine database.

All eligible employees will receive an email from Maryland Athletics detailing how to redeem their tickets, after June 30.

On April 23, Chancellor Jay Perman mandated that all faculty, staff and students at University System of Maryland institutions be vaccinated prior to the beginning of the Fall 2021 academic semester.

The Terps will play seven of its 12 football games in 2021 at College Park, with four of the first five being at home.

The opener is scheduled for September 4 against non-conference rival West Virginia .
